    • The Gepard was conceived during the 1960s as a replacement for the M42 Duster.
    • Two projects were explored: “Matador” and “5PFZ-A.”
    • In 1971, construction began on prototypes, and the decision was made to use the 35 mm gun type.
    • The Dutch army also ordered a pre-series based on a Leopard 1 vehicle.
    • The Gepard entered service in the 1970s and has undergone several upgrades with advanced electronics
